Ana Ballesteros Pena

About

Dr. Ana Ballesteros Pena is a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Toronto and University of A Coruña (Spain) and Associate Researcher at the CICS.NOVA, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH-UNOVA) (Portugal). Her current research on immigration detention in Canada and Spain is funded by the European Union. She has developed qualitative research inside prisons, about the voluntary sector working in the penal field and on immigration detention both in Spain and Canada. She is a member of international networks, such as Border Criminologies and Anthropology of Confinement (EASA). She has published journal articles on prison policies, research inside prisons and foreign national prisoners. She is currently working in close collaboration with Drs. Brandariz and Fernandez Bessa. She will represent Spain on the Methods cluster and lead  immigration detention hub for Spain.
